Dr Tanya Kowalski is a General Ophthalmologist based in Melbourne with subspecialty interests in Cataract and Oculoplastic Surgery. She has recently joined McKinnon Eye Clinic and will start seeing patients in April 2025.
Dr Kowalski earned her undergraduate and Doctor of Medicine (MD) degrees from the University of Melbourne, graduating in 2014. She completed her Ophthalmology specialist training at Melbourne’s Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital. Dr Kowalski undertook further specialty training in Oculoplastic Surgery in Cardiff, United Kingdom, and is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (FRANZCO).
Dr Kowalski is experienced in managing general eye conditions including anterior segment disorders, cataracts and retinal pathology, as well as holding a special interest in oculoplastic conditions involving the eyelid, eyelid tumours and the lacrimal system.
Dr Kowalski maintains posts in both private practice and the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital, where she is actively involved in teaching and mentoring the next generation of trainee ophthalmologists in addition to her clinical work. She has presented scientific work at numerous local and international medical conferences and was recognized with an award for the Best Ophthalmic Research film at the RANZCO Annual Scientific Congress.
Dr Kowalski is dedicated to providing comprehensive and tailored care to all her patients, and to working closely with other health care providers to optimise both visual and systemic patient outcomes.
